Our house is nestled in rural Northern Illinois where you can watch some of the most colorful sunsets and wander through the prairies. These are just a few examples of the exploring you can do.

Experience #1 | 2 Miles From Property

Russel Woods Forest Preserve

The 126-acre Russell Woods includes forests, prairies, and a river. The preserve has three enclosed shelters, an open air shelter, a playground, sledding hill, and 2 ½ miles of trails. A diverse flora occurs in both the upland forest and the low, wet woodland. The river itself is a prime fishing site, but is also rich in other aquatic species, especially native freshwater mussels. It is designated a "unique aquatic resource" by the IL Department of Natural Resources and the IL Natural History Survey.

Experience #2 | 1 Mile From Property

David Carroll Memorial Park

Picnic along the Kishwaukee River or take a hike from this park to Russell Woods. DCM Park is a lovely destination for a bike ride through the woods. You’ll want to be there for annual events such as the Volkfest – Beer and Wine, Rock the Kish, Helicopter Rides, and the Duck Race.
